Most people who have chronic fatigue syndrome, come down with the problem quite suddenly. Some can experience a gradual descent into the disorder. Either way, there are definite signs and symptoms to look out for, which are generally a good indication that there is a problem. In all, there are eight categories of chronic fatigue syndrome symptoms. Fatigue is the first; if you have a persistent feeling of fatigue, whether it is mental or physical, and find yourself less and less active, chronic fatigue syndrome may be the problem.
Malaise is the second category of telltale symptoms where chronic fatigue syndrome is concerned; this can mean anything from the loss of stamina, to mental and/or physical exhaustion, to a slow rate of recovery from any physical activity. Problems with sleeping, such as insomnia is the third category; pain, with a tendency for it to be widespread and migratory, is the fourth category of symptoms concerning chronic fatigue syndrome.
A series of cognitive problems make up the fifth category; these include confusion, loss of memory, and a general feeling of fogginess. The sixth category is made up of autonomic symptoms; this means that you may experience orthostatic intolerance, hypotension, dizziness, nausea, cardiac arrhythmia, and things of that nature.
The seventh category of chronic fatigue syndrome consists of neuroendocrine manifestations, which means that you may experience irregular fluctuations in body temperature which can include chills, sweating, or persistent feelings of fever. Lastly, people who may be suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome experience problems with their immune systems, such as sore throats, persistent flu symptoms, tender glands, and similar problems.
Because it can be difficult to pinpoint chronic fatigue syndrome, it is vitally important to keep a close eye on the emergence of these symptoms, especially if they occur in a combination with each other. Lasting flu-like symptoms are particularly telltale of a lot of health problems, so if you have been feeling sick for quite a while, it is crucial to talk to your doctor as soon as possible.

The psychological symptoms which can be found are getting depressed, irritable, anxious, difficulty to sleep, lose interest in food, difficulty in concentrating or remembering things, extremely tired and getting headaches. These symptoms make the life of a sufferer unbearable to carry out their usual activities, go and see their friends and to carry out their hobbies. Some people also will become mentally upset due to prolonged bed rest or by not working for a long time.
CFS cannot be cured but many treatments are available to relieve the symptoms. Treatments are usually individualized according to the symptoms and needs. Most doctors recommend an initial treatment of rest, exercise and a balanced diet. Activities have to be prioritized, avoid overexertion and rest is important to maintain the existing energy reserves.
